Did you know 1/3 of working adults have dry eyes?
Onset of presbyopia is getting early?
Not all cataracts need surgery?
Let us shed some light on some of the most common eye issues on this special day.
Dry eyes are getting more and more common among young working adults due to heavy computer usage (Aggarwal et. al., 2018). There are different levels of severity in dry eyes, depending on the tear secretion and evaporation rate. It is important to understand dry eye conditions and relieve symptoms with suitable eye drops.
The onset of presbyopia or better known as “Lao Hua” in Chinese is at 40 years old. However, due to lifestyle changes such as prolonged digital screen time and the usage of multiple screens at work can cause early presbyopia. Eye muscles deteriorate faster when we tend to switch focuses between small reading materials, like spreadsheets.
The development of cataract is a natural ageing process. It usually starts at 50 years old. What matters is to understand the condition of cataract and delay it at all costs. Some might think that cataract needs immediate surgical intervention, but the truth is cataract surgery is dependent on its maturity and the patient’s visual acuity.
