It was a fine Monday morning, 30th Nov 2020. A black Volvo SUV came by, and a foreign gentleman stepped into our optometry. Turned out this middle-aged Dane (a Danish guy) is our very first customer. Let’s call him Mr. J.
Evon, our on duty optometrist greeted him and asked a quick round of relevant questions to understand his pain points. Mr. J was dealing with his twitching eyes. His GP recommended him steroids to relax his eye muscles. However, Mr. J was concerned about the risks of taking steroids, and therefore, looking for other solutions.
Our optometrist explained to him that steroids are known for treating inflammation and may not be good for the eyes. In fact, steroids can increase eye pressure and cause glaucoma if they are not used carefully.
First things first, Evon performed a comprehensive eye examination that lasted for 30-min. A slit lamp was used to study the structure of Mr. J’s eyes to discover any abnormalities. In conclusion, no inflammation was detected. However, our optometrist detected uncorrected reading power and his eyes strained because he is a heavy digital screen user.
At last, our optometrist prescribed Mr. J a pair of anti-blue light reading glasses which enhance visual comfort while looking at digital screens to relieve his twitching eyes.
